Farm washing?

Posted By on Mon, Dec 7, 2009 at 3:59 PM

Surprise! There are some people out there who want to appear as something they're not.

In August, we ran this essay on "local washing," and by now you've probably heard the term "green washing" as well. Here's another one: farm washing.

Mike Callicrate from Ranch Foods Direct sent us this Washington Post article earlier today. In it, one "sustainable" restaurant appears not to be all it advertises itself to be. Consider it an argument for assigning the term "sustainable" a few governmental or industry standards.

Callicrate has often had to defend his own brand while challenging some outfits who wish to appear more locally minded and environmentally friendly than they really are.

So — anyone want to narc out his/her chef?
