A memorial — or more of a "celebration," in the words of Tim Muldrew, assistant director of performing arts at the FAC — for Tony Babin will be held at 2 this afternoon at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.
Though he's most widely recognized as the man selling flowers on the corner of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Academy Boulevard, Babin acted and produced theater, and cofounded the Upstart Performing Ensemble. (Its 10th annual Gay and Lesbian Theatre Festival will be held Jan. 15 through 31 at Watch This Space.)
Babin passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the age of 52. More than 150 friends, family and community members are expected to attend today's memorial event.
