County dispensaries to carry on

Posted By on Thu, Dec 17, 2009 at 5:41 PM

El Paso County's commissioners today unanimously passed a resolution that imposes restrictions on medical marijuana facilities — but does not try to close them down — in unincorporated parts of the county.

Restrictions mentioned in the press release include the following:

• Facilities cannot be located within 500 feet of schools, parks, churches or homes
• Hours of operation are restricted to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days per week
• Businesses must display sales tax license and temporary use permit
• No medical marijuana land use will be allowed as a home occupation
• Medical marijuana facilities must comply with the appropriate Colorado constitutional provision

The regulations are good for six months, unless commissioners decide to amend or extend them before then.
