At its formal meeting today, City Council gave final approval to the city budget, as well as the budget for Colorado Springs Utilities. But neither vote was unanimous
Councilors Tom Gallagher and Randy Purvis voted against the utilities budget, which passed 7-2.
Councilors Darryl Glenn, Purvis and Gallagher voted against the city budget, which still prevailed by a 6-3 margin.
Both budgets underwent some last-minute changes two weeks ago after the city decided that Utilities owed a larger amount for its payment in lieu of taxes than the enterprise had budgeted. Council then harvested some of that money to continue some city programs, some for three months, others for all of 2010.
