Shanahan in D.C.

Posted By on Mon, Jan 4, 2010 at 4:56 PM

Obviously the Washington Redskins' owner, Daniel Snyder, had a plan ready to execute as soon as the NFL regular season ended.

First, he fired head coach Jim Zorn as soon as the Redskins returned to their team headquarters from San Diego before dawn Monday morning.

By mid-afternoon, former Denver coach Mike Shanahan had arrived on a flight from Denver to Dulles International Airport southwest of Washington. And with a press conference scheduled for Tuesday morning, the Washington Post is reporting that anonymous sources say Shanahan is ready to take over the Redskins.

Shanahan has been out of coaching, but still well-paid by the Denver Broncos, since he was fired by Denver owner Patrick Bowlen after the 2008 season.
