Blood for a brew

Posted by on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 5:52 PM

In an effort to bring out more donors, one Washington state blood bank is now offering coupons for a free pint of beer when you donate a pint of blood. The only catch? You have to wait at least six hours to imbibe.

Locally, neither Penrose-St. Francis or Memorial blood banks have given out free beer to donors. A phone call to the Penrose bank prompted a stern reminder that the network is of Catholic affiliation, but on Memorial's end, the tone was friendlier. While the idea of beer was a novel one, Memorial has given away free pints of ice cream to past donors.
