It may be the dead of winter, but that's no reason not to be thinking about ... the El Paso County Fair, or actually, about becoming queen of the El Paso County Fair.
No, El Paso County's Web site does not seem to have a picture of any recent winners, but you can find info about an upcoming "queen clinic" to be held Feb. 13, and the March 6 contest, which starts at 9 am at the El Paso County Fairgrounds
The El Paso County Fair Queen Committee is seeking qualified candidates to serve as the El Paso County Fair Queen for the 2010 year. Eligible contestants must be single and never married females, between the ages of 18 and 22, and must be El Paso County residents. A Queen Clinic will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the El Paso County Fairgrounds with a fee of $20 please RSVP to Pam Dawson before Feb. 11 at 719/749-2342. The clinic is not mandatory to compete in the Queen contest, however highly recommended.
Application packets for the Queen Contest are now available at the El Paso County Fairgrounds Office located at 366 10th Street, Calhan, CO 80808 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, elpasocountyfair.com or you can request a packet by calling 520-7880. During her reign, the El Paso County Fair Queen will be a recognized representative for the county, not only at the Fair, but also at other county events.
Application deadline: Feb. 18, 2010, by 3 p.m. to the Fair Office.
Queen Contest: March 6, 2010 starting at 9 a.m. at the Fairgrounds.
