A snub?

Posted By on Thu, Feb 4, 2010 at 1:17 PM

Questions are swirling about whether President Obama nominated the right guy to head NORAD and Northern Command, based at Peterson Air Force Base.

The Navy Times reports that senior National Guard officers believe the top job, now held by Gen. Gene Renuart, should go to his current second in command Army Lt. Gen. H. Steven Blum, the former National Guard Bureau Chief.

Instead, Vice Adm. James Winnefeld has been picked, making him the second Navy person to head the commands. The first was Adm. Timothy Keating.
