Freedom isn't free, ya know

And just so you don't forget it, a collective of right-wing groups (we're talking fringe here) is charging up to $8 a head for people to meet candidates running for Senate and Colorado governor.

The Constitutionalist Today, a new local monthly paper, is one of the sponsors, along with Americans for Prosperity, Coalition for a Conservative Majority, the 9-12 Pikes Peak Patriots and the Colorado Tea Party.

These groups are anti-tax, anti-government, anti-immigration, anti-climate change, pro-military, pro-gun, pro-capitalism (hence, the cover charge) and pro-corporations-are-citizens-too.

The Constitutionalist Today's publisher, Lana Fore-Warkocz, writes in the first issue that she promises to "keep our readers informed," but doesn't mention at what price.

Anyway, if this sounds like your idea of a good time, mark the date: 6 p.m. March 9 at Mr. Biggs Family Event Center. Tickets in advance are $5, or $8 at the door.

If you'd like to hear the candidates this election season — all of them, not just the fanati... er... Republicans bound to show up here — watch for the Independent's candidate forums. They're all free of charge, and everyone is welcome.
