Breaking News / Music Big bands (not that kind) flock to the Sheep

We don’t know whether it’s the approach of spring, the mighty booking power of the Black Sheep, or the decline in fortune of once-famous bands — most likely a bit of all three — but we do know that both JET and VNV Nation have both been booked to play everyone’s favorite all-ages venue. (Cue protests from theLoft fans.)
JET, of course, is the Aussie band of brothers who hit in 2003 with “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?,” an unabashed ripoff of Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” and the Black Crowes “Too Hot Hard To Handle.” Five years later, Iggy returned the, um, favor by recording a single with them, and now they’ve got a new album, Shaka Rock, as well as an upcoming Jimmy Kimmel appearance. Their March 30 date is just one of two Colorado gigs on the band's tour itinerary. (The other, weirdly enough, is in Aspen.)
A week later, it’s the German/Irish/UK band VNV Nation, who will be bringing their goth/industrial/electronica jamboree to the Black Sheep on April 8. True, Frontman Ronan Harris may look like he could fill in for Buster Bloodvessel these days, but word has it the band’s still awfully good and well worth your digging out the black mascara, corsets and shrouds.
