Remember how City Council gave four community centers, city pools, Rock Ledge Ranch, the Starsmore Discovery Center, and other park assets until March 31 to fund themselves?
Well, tomorrow, City Councilor Sean Paige will be giving an update on how that's working out.
Here's a teaser: Rock Ledge and Starsmore have active nonprofits associated with them that have found a way to fund them. There's some interest from a private company in some of the pools.
The community centers aren't as fortunate, though a citizens task force is hammering — slowly but surely — away at the problem. They still need well over a million dollars.
Anyway, the meeting will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, on the steps of City Hall (or in City Council Chambers if the weather is bad). Leaders of various grassroots groups will be on hand to give progress reports.
