Potholes: A bigger problem than we think?

Good news for those of you who haven't already thrown out your alignment: The city plans to fix some of those gaping potholes that have been swallowing front tires across the city.

Apparently, the city has noticed the dire situation (somebody deserves a gold star), and they're planning on hitting the problem full force between March 3 and March 9, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The crews will begin by filling the 188 holes they've received complaints on and patching bad spots on the city's main arterials.

If you'd like to report a hole, you can call the Pothole Hotline (seriously, there is a pothole hotline) and leave a message. The number is 385-6808. Or you can e-mail your complaint to streetdivision@springsgov.com. The city urges you to include pertinent information such as "street name, direction of traffic flow (north bound, south bound, etc.), nearby cross streets, landmarks such as nearby buildings, side of the street, location in the street and distance from the curb." Oh, and don't expect a return phone call.
