While making phone calls for our upcoming InSider guide today, I got to talking with Patrice Filler, owner of Manitou Springs' Fare Bella Gallery (16 Ruxton Ave.). Filler told me that this winter she branched out into the vacant space next door and opened a home décor shop, Step 13.
Step 13 features functional pieces by local artists; funky, refurbished furniture; some fine art from the gallery; and retail items such as the Denver-based bath and body line Tokyo Milk. (This line, which features a righteous perfume called Poe's Tobacco, is already a favorite of one Indy staffer.) For those in the know, Filler said she's going for an Anthropologie vibe. Enough said.
Filler, who plans to add a garden section to Step 13 soon, says the shop's been incredibly successful since it opened, maybe due to the absence of anything else like it in Manitou right now.
