Big night statewide for Romanoff, McInnis

Though the first Democratic results just started coming in from El Paso County shortly after 10 p.m., it's fairly obvious that Andrew Romanoff is on his way to a clear-cut victory over Sen. Michael Bennet in the state party caucuses Tuesday night.

Romanoff has about 52 percent to Bennet's 42 percent with a handful of larger counties still not reporting, including Pueblo, Adams and Boulder counties. With 320 out of 404 precincts reporting in El Paso County, though, Bennet has 492 to Romanoff's 390.

Denver County clearly is giving Romanoff most of his victory, with an edge of more than 1,300 there. In all the other counties, Romanoff leads by only about 300.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, former U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis has a decisive lead over challenger Dan Maes with about a 63-28 percentage margin.

The GOP Senate race is far more interesting, with underdog Tea Party-backed Ken Buck in a tight battle with favorite Jane Norton. That sentiment is also apparent in El Paso County, where Buck leads Norton by about 40-33 percent.
