Tanner plans bid for state House

Though Tom Mowle is for now the only Democrat planning a bid for county-wide office (he's running for clerk and recorder), the party did better on Saturday at attracting candidates to run for legislative posts.

Notably, Jan Tanner, a member of the D-11 school board, will be the party's nominee in House District 16, which is now represented by state Rep. Larry Liston.

Tanner, who only decided to enter the race last week, says she considers the district covering portions of central and northern Colorado Springs "very winnable."

Here's the full list of candidates who were nominated at Saturday's assembly, including incumbents:

El Paso County Clerk & Recorder — Tom Mowle

House District 15 — Marcus Cimino

House District 16 — Jan Tanner

House District 17 — State Rep. Dennis Apuan

House District 18 — Pete Lee

Senate District 9 — Nicholas Werle

Senate District 11 — State Sen. John Morse

County Commissioner District 1 — Steve Kjonaas

County Commissioner District 5 — State Rep. Michael Merrifield
