Volunteers and Donations Needed to Support Job Seeking Women in El Paso County
May 7, 2010 — Women in El Paso County are helping less fortunate women in our community prepare for employment interviews and maintain jobs once employed in a one day event called Women Helping Women. The women receiving assistance are either transitioning off cash assistance from the Department of Human Services or have recently joined the workforce.
Make-up artists and hair stylists will be on hand to make sure the women look and feel their best. Through donations from community organizations, each woman is able to select from an array of gently used professional clothing for their new or current job prospects. A number of prospective employers, ready to hire, will be at the event as well as community partners who will educate women on various resources and provide tips on making a positive impression to employers. Goodwill Industries is even donating a brand new computer as a door prize.
Volunteers are needed for the day of the event and donations of gently used professional clothing are also still being accepted. To volunteer or donate please contact Denni Penilla at email@example.com or 444-8140.
