Here's a little sumpthin' for the theater and literary crowds ...

First: The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Theatre announced its 2010-11 season earlier this week. In honor of the museum's 75th birthday, first-time subscribers can purchase $75 season tickets for the five shows: An Ideal Husband (Oct. 8 through 24), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Nov. 26 through Dec. 19), The Producers (Jan. 28 through Feb. 20), The Women (March 25 through April 10), and 1776 (May 13 through June 5).

Second: The Pikes Peak Library District announced its 2010 All Pikes Peak Reads selections earlier this week as well. The selections are: The Invention of Everything Else by Samantha Hunt; The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson; and Lightning in His Hand: The Life Story of Nikola Tesla by Inez Hunt & Wanetta W. Draper. Some info on the titles from a library release:

The Devil in the White City intertwines the true tale of two men - the brilliant architect behind the legendary 1893 World’s Fair, striving to secure America’s place in the world - and the cunning serial killer who used the fair to lure his victims to their death.
The inventive Nikola Tesla is the subject of the other two APPR selections: In the fiction selection The Invention of Everything Else, a woman obsessed with Tesla eventually uncovers the extraordinary story of his life as a Serbian immigrant and a visionary genius. In the biography Lightning in His Hand: The Life Story of Nikola Tesla, authors uncover the story of Tesla, one of the greatest inventive scientists of all time who had performed some of his most important experiments in Colorado. They also reveal his eccentricities - his germ phobia, his passionate interest in feeding the pigeons in Bryant Park and his caring for crippled pigeons, among many oddities of personality.
