Be sure to block out some time tomorrow to visit both Mountain Living Studio (741 Manitou Ave.) in Manitou Springs and Kathleen McFadden's Range Gallery (2428 W. Colorado Ave.) in Old Colorado City for an opening reception and a grand opening, respectively.

MLS will host a reception from 1 to 7 p.m. for its show Secrets ..., which features paintings by David Gonzales (whom you might recognize from painting window designs on Manitou shops), pottery by Sumi Von Dassow, and paintings and drawings by Liese Chavez.

I was introduced to Chavez's work at her recent show at Swirl Wine Emporium, and was impressed by her highly original subjects and skillful technique. (Read more about her here.)

Range Gallery is celebrating its grand opening in its new location near the Michael Garman building. Owner and photographer McFadden says she's already seen a great influx in business since moving to the new space, and will unveil a new series of Colorado photos at the event, which runs from 6 to 9.

Since setting up shop in Colorado in 2008, McFadden has carved a considerable niche for herself in the arts scene, effectively establishing the city's only photography gallery devoted to one artist. But her work deserves it, and her chic but homey new storefront is the perfect backdrop. (Catch up on McFadden's style here.)
