Ted Haggard announced at a press conference this morning that he and his wife are starting a new church here in Colorado Springs, a move he first hinted at in our Indy cover story last October.

We'll have the full story — including a new one-on-one interview with the former New Life pastor — in this week's Independent, which hits both the Internet and newsstands tomorrow.

I guess once you get used to the "prosperity" and "abundance" that modern evangelism seems to be all about these days, a more ascetic life kinda loses its charm.

Ted is so full of himself that he cares not New Life which he started. His rule, by the way, was if you were a staff person and leave his former church you were expected to move an hour away. He can not be trusted and I'm sure the church will be at least 500 to 1000 people within three years. He is going to compete with his old church.
