Town hall scheduled to discuss local MMJ ban

From 7 to 9 p.m., on June 17, a town hall is scheduled for citizens to discuss a medical marijuana center ban in Colorado Springs, as well as the county's building purchases.

The meeting will take place at Fire Station 19, 2490 Research Pkwy., and has already drawn reaction from the pro-MMJ crowd.

"We vote, and this is our city too. No one would vote to ban a Walgreens or Safeway pharmacy, but for some reason, the leaders of this movement don’t feel that it is a patients’ right to have a safe choice for obtaining real medicine," says Tanya Garduno of the Colorado Springs Medical Cannabis Council, in a release.

"Our patients deserve safe access no matter what part of the city they live in, and with all the new infused products available, the only way to have a true choice is to continue servicing patients through a wellness center."
