Medical Marijuana / Marijuana House Republicans try to block D.C. MMJ

Two members of the U.S. House of Representatives — Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) — have issued a joint resolution to again block the District of Columbia's city-approved medical marijuana legislation, reports The Washington Post.
"While derivatives of marijuana are available in pill form for medicinal purposes, smoked marijuana is a health danger — not a cure — and therefore remains a harmful and dangerous drug for people of all ages," says Cheffetz, who Toke of the Town calls an "'I used to be a liberal' young kind of earnest, clean-cut, gay-marriage-opposing, pot-hating, wholesome-looking wingnut."
Mike Debonis from the Post says the setback isn't a serious one, as most challenges to D.C. law come "through the appropriations process, where spending riders are regularly attached to budget legislation," as opposed to a join resolution, where it must be passed by both the House and Senate, then signed by the president.
