Greenhut wrote Plunder: How Public Employee Unions are Raiding Treasuries, Controlling our Lives and Bankrupting the Nation.

The Food for Thought Luncheon is being sponsored by Limited Government Forum, a nonprofit that promotes the ideas of individual responsibility and freedom in contrast to the tendency for people to turn to government for solutions to almost all social problems.

In Colorado Springs, some City Council members have expressed concern that city workers' retirement benefit costs are rising — benefits that pay some employees 75 percent to 80 percent of their full-time salaries after retirement.

"Our situation isn’t quite as bad as California’s, at least not yet," says the Limited Government Forum's Sean Paige, who serves on City Council. 'But it’s an issue that we and the rest of the country have to come to grips with, and the sooner the better."

Cost of the luncheon is $20. Go here to register.
