Thievery corporation

You may recall a new Canadian bottled water company we told you about in late June called redleaf.

Late last week, the company contacted us again to inform us of an incident that happened here in Colorado Springs related to its product: Apparently, following the RW Colorado Music Expo & Fan Fair at the Phil Long Expo Center on July 10 and 11, participating musicians made of with two pallets of redleaf valued at nearly $1,000.

Here's the press release's version of the occurrence:

Redleaf was an official sponsor for the event, which drew fans and participants to Colorado Springs. Following the event, redleaf sent a local trucking company to pick up four remaining pallets of the water from the Expo Center. When the trucks arrived, they were only able to find two. Event organizers confirmed that several of the musicians had taken the water following the event on Sunday.

Instead of getting pissy (which would probably involve drinking mass quantities of their product in one sitting) and pressing charges, the company has instead issued a challenge for the now-well-hydrated thieves to write and perform a song for redleaf's Facebook page . The winner will get a year's supply of the water.

Again, from the release, quoting redleaf CEO Dave Hillis:

“I love country music and I know country musicians can create magic out of nearly any subject, so why not water,” said Hillis. “It will be a small price to pay if one of these talented individuals can capture redleaf in a great song.”
