I am the king of Prospect Lake!
No. Not really.
But I did manage to get up on my first attempt at wakeboarding and take three super-fun rides around the lake. (Thank you, five years of summer camp waterskiing lessons.)
The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour is in town this weekend and were invited to take a quick lesson from the pros this afternoon.
Check out Bryce Crawford's interview with pro rider Andrew Adkison here.
Today, our gracious hosts were Zane Schwenk, Austin Hair and Steel Lafferty.
Here are some photos of Schwenk (red and white trunks) and Lafferty (black trunks) in action, followed by a much less exciting photo of myself.
After just one ride, I can say with certainty that wakeboarding is much more fun than single or double-ski waterskiing. The board allows much more versatility in the ride: It's fairly easy to flick your shoulders and hips and switch up your lead foot while riding. I can see where, with some practice, you could have a lot of fun learning some basic tricks — nothing on the scale as these guys, who've been wakeboarding for between eight and 15 years.
This weekend's event should be really fun to watch, based on what we saw today from the back of the boat. This is the first time the event has come to the Springs, so if we want to earn a return visit, we should show the competitors some love in the form of a good crowd.

People of Colorado Springs: WAKE UP. CSF is NOT your friend and does not mean…
Cirque shows are amazing; we've seen two of them, they are part of the reason…
