• As promised in last week's review, Amuzé at the FAC is now open for dinner, starting tonight. Regular café hours will be 11 am. to 2 p.m. for lunch, with dinner service beginning at 5, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Look for more pretty plates like this with expanded hours.

Service will also now be available in the Deco Lounge from 4 to 10 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. And look for a lunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. Chef Bill Sherman is also launching wine tasting dinners as of Aug. 26.

• If you're craving a food festival, the Taste of Douglas County will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Aug. 19, at the Douglas County Events Center. Tickets are $20 at the door, $10 in advance, and a few Colorado Springs businesses (though technically El Paso County based) will be participating, including the Craftwood Inn and Patsy's Candies.

• Anyone concerned with sustainable food advocacy: The Organic Consumers Association put out an urgent call this week for donations, saying that "strategic staff and campaign efforts are in jeopardy." Click here to read a letter from the co-founder and director.
