Colorado Springs: The city above the weeds

You may have heard that the city is a little hard up for cash these days.

And you may also have heard that the city isn't paying for a lot of basics that tend to make our surroundings look a little less ... uh ... trashed.

So anyways, you have the chance to start up where the city left off and give downtown a cleaner look: Local do-gooders are looking for volunteers. Here's the information:


Volunteering to clean up Colorado Springs

September 1st, 2010- Colorado Springs, CO- Volunteering to clean up Colorado Springs

September 1st, 2010- Colorado Springs, CO- Downtown Partnership in conjunction with local businesses and residents, will be volunteering time to help clean up sections of Colorado Springs on September 18th. In an act of civic pride Colorado Springs residents will pulling weeds, cleaning sidewalks and other general cleaning duties to fourteen blocks of downtown Colorado Springs.

Volunteers are needed to help beautify defined city blocks between Moreno Ave and Cache La Poudre. Block Captains are also needed to be a lead for each section. Volunteers will meet on September 18th at 7:30am and will then go to their assigned areas. The clean-up project is scheduled from 7:30am till 10am.

Local businesses Bestway Disposal, Landscape Enterprises, Concept Restaurants, Regina’s Unique Boutique Downtown, Phancy Pheasant and Sonterra Grill have donated time and materials to help make this day of beautification possible. Local businesses, community groups and residents are also encouraged to take a morning and clean-up their own areas.
