Meat + art = everyone's happy

It's the event for both him and her: Art Meets Beast, happening next week at MCA Denver. Pitched as "a three-day nose-to-tail whole bison roast" the extravaganza features lectures, live music and other performances.


Here's the rundown:

Tues., Nov. 9: A special double lecture on cave painting and Buffalo Bill, starting at 6:30 p.m. Come at 6 for drinks. ($10-$15)

Wed., Nov. 10: A bison butchering workshop with Jimmy Cross with the music of Buffalo Springfield on the flugelhorn. The "vegetarian option:" Roger Green on guitar. The event also starts at 6:30 with drinks at 6. ($10-$15)

Thurs., Nov. 11: a presentation about Denver's relationship with meat and "how it shaped the city" with "Footprint Denver: Art Meat City." Lecture at 4:30 p.m., drinks at 4. ($10-$15)

Also that evening, the Beast Roast 500, a bison dinner with a host of performances by musicians and bands. The entertainment starts at 7 p.m., dinner at 8. ($45-$50)
