My apologies — I obviously jumped the gun last night. As Ralph Routon reports here, a count of late-arriving mail ballots was done in the wee hours of the morning, and 1A has been defeated, 50.09 percent to 49.91 percent.

It's over, and the ban has been approved. It was tight — 50.07 percent to 49.93 percent. Fewer than 250 votes wound up being the difference. We'll follow up in the morning to see whether the MMJ community is going to concede, or fight the results in some way.
Also, in Fountain, voters approved a ban by 34 votes, 1946 to 1914.

Bad news for the MMJ industry: With only 20 precincts left to report results, it looks like the county ban will PASS — yes votes outnumber no votes by more than 1,000.

The Thirsty Parrot has called an end to the MMJ viewing party there tonight, so advocates are scattering to watch more results trickle in. Rest assured with it being as close as it is, few of them will be going to bed anytime soon. Says Tanya Garduno, leader of the Colorado Springs Medical Cannabis Council:
"I'm freaking out. It's still really up in the air. It's still scary, and I really hope I don't have to do this again in April."

Mike Elliott just told Bryce that he was indeed aware the results weren't in when he made his remarks.

From his (ahem) perch at the Thirsty Parrot, Indy reporter Bryce Crawford says he has seen actual celebration break out, complete with a "thank you" speech, over County Question 1A (medical marijuana ban) being defeated.
Which was a little weird, because the numbers haven't been released yet.
Bryce says that right below Dancing with the Stars on KRDO, maybe an hour ago, a graphic scrolled by at least twice, saying that more than 70 percent of voters voted against 1A. Cheers erupted, and Citizens for Safer Communities campaign manager Mike Elliott followed with a quick speech thanking everyone, and asking for additional money to take care of campaign debt.
Now, it seems everyone's in agreement that the numbers were either mislabeled or misinterpreted. The wait continues. Had to have been the shortest-lived high on record.
