After his victory in a tight race, Sen. Michael Bennet will hit the road this week to thank people for keeping him in the seat to which he was appointed in 2009.
During his “Thank You” tour, Bennet will visit Boulder, Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan, Pueblo, Alamosa, Durango, Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, Denver, and, believe it or not, Colorado Springs, where he mustered only 34 percent to Ken Buck's 60 percent.
If you want to drop in on the thank-you party here, Bennet will be at Il Postino restaurant, 123 E. Pikes Peak Ave., at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow. It's the same place Dems gathered on election night to bemoan their losses — defeats in a county commission race and clerk and recorder contest — and celebrate a few wins, most notably state Sen. John Morse's ability to hang on for another term. The outcome of Bennet's race wasn't known until the next day.
Anyway, here's a chance to cheer on one of the party's bright spots in the Election Day trampling.
