As Face the State initially reported, Col. Wayne Monteith issued a letter to Schriever Air Force Base personnel stating, "because I find the presence of marijuana on Schriever AFB to be a risk to good order and discipline and to the Air Force mission, I am exercising my authority under federal law and DoD policy to order that no marijuana, medical or otherwise, may be used, possessed, distributed or introduced on Schriever AFB."

Those found in possession will be reported to the Colorado Springs Police Department for legality determinations, and may be subject to further consequences from the base itself.
