Spice, wine and beer

Some brief food notes ahead of the weekend:

Extraordinary Ingredients celebrates its first anniversary from 11:30 to 1 p.m. on Nov. 20 with the chefs from the Margarita at PineCreek doing a free demo and tasting.

The Prisoner has long remained one of my favorite wines. If you've never tried it, or are excited to try the newly released 2009 vintage, here's your chance:

• Earlier this week, Denver's Westword reported on Rock Bottom Brewing's recent merger with Gordon Biersch into a new conglomerate called Craftworks Restaurants & Breweries.

• And speaking of Rock Bottom, cheers for this Bible study's name and concept: What Would Jesus Brew? Attendees apparently receive one free beer, on the brewery — next meeting is Dec. 5.
