Food & Drink Vino, canned goods and a new spot for Mexican

We first told you in early June about downtown Mexican staple José Muldoon's' plans for eastern expansion.
Game day arrived last Friday with a soft dinner opening and this past Monday with a soft lunch opening at 5710 S. Carefree Circle. Now, the big grand opening party is set for Thursday, Dec. 9 (tomorrow).
Catch a free salsa and queso spread between 5 and 7 p.m. and live Mariachi music until 8 p.m., but perhaps of most import, nab $1 house margaritas and $1 Coronitas throughout the whole day.
In brief, some other approaching food happenings:
• Also on Thursday, Dec. 9, Motif will host a Starry Night Wine Dinner consisting of five wine-paired courses. Seats are $45 plus tax/tip; reserve a spot at 632-5414.
• Pizzeria Rustica will hold a Passport to Sicily with Arancio Vineyards dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Look for five wine-paired courses for $49 plus tax/tip with proceeds going to Pikes Peak Urban Gardens. Reserve a seat at 475-9700.
• Canned goods will earn you some good eats this month. Bring one into MaggieMoo's at the Promenade Shops at Briargate between 3 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15 and get a free sample of a MaggieMoo's IceCream Cupcake.
Between Saturday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 19, bring one into OPB&J and receive half off any sandwich.
