Education University researchers seek out American's most annoying jargon

Personally speaking, I don’t think “just sayin,” “I love me some” or “that’s what SHE said” are all that and a bag of chips. But Americans — well, technically, 938 of them — are really annoyed by that most ubiquitous of one-word epitaphs: “whatever.”
That’s the take-away message from a poll conducted by Marist College, an upstate New York institution where folks apparently have a lot of time on their hands. Those surveyed were asked to identify the phrase that they found “most annoying in conversation."
Unfortunately, results were limited by researchers' pre-selection of a mere five answers, but, you know, whatever. In any case, there's no denying that the results fell somewhere between astounding and mildly interesting:
The lion's share of votes went to “whatever” (47%), followed by “you know” (25%), “it is what it is” (11%), “anyway” (7%), and “at the end of the day” (2%). Responses were also broken down by region, income, education, race, age and gender.
