Cirque Du Soleil in the Springs — Part One

Here's your chance to catch a Cirque Du Soleil show without having to hop a flight to Vegas:

Alegría will hit the World Arena for eight performances beginning Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Thanks to a generous opportunity provided by the Montreal-based company, I was able to attend a preview of Alegría last week in Wichita, Kan., as well as go backstage and talk with the cast and crew.

I will briefly review that performance as well as reveal what those Cirque crew members had to say about the show in this upcoming Thursday's Indy, but leading up to that I'll be releasing a daily blog, each with an audio sample and a couple photos.

For today's first entry, I'm attaching the raw audio (please forgive the background noise and casual interview format) of my brief chat with Alegría's assistant production manager, Mike Newnum. As you'll hear, Newnum is the guy responsible for organizing 18 semi trucks full of gear and safely hanging 90,000 pounds from arena ceilings. Literally, it's a big job:
