Jazzman Turner to accept Alice Award Sunday

Colorado Springs jazz aficionados will have a chance to listen and pay tribute to one of their own this coming Sunday when John Turner is presented the 14th annual Alice Award by the Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society.

The keyboardist will also be performing with his Colorado Firecrackers. Alternately known to some as John Turner's Music Stimulus Project, the group consists of Turner, trumpeter Al Eberhardt, tenor saxman Carlos Crull, and drummer Bobby McGuffin (all four musicians share vocal duties).

Turner, a member of the the Air Force Academy's top-notch Falconaires for 20 years, currently performs with three different local jazz outfits. The event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. You can find more details, including a link to the jazz society's full schedule of Second Sunday events here.
