The 5 Browns, a group of Juilliard-trained sibling musicians, are going through something of a rough patch at the moment. Their father, Keith Scott Brown, yesterday pleaded guilty to first-degree felony sodomy upon a child and two counts of second-degree felony sexual abuse of a child, all crimes related to members of the group.
The three daughters — Desirae, 32, Deondra, 30, and Melody, 26 — have publicly revealed that their father sexually abused them as children, and released a statement, saying, “All three sisters are at peace with the agreement that has been reached in this case." The statement, as printed in the Salt Lake Tribune, continues, “While, clearly, the current events surrounding the family are painful, the sisters were well prepared for this day and are relieved and grateful to close this chapter in their lives.”
The family group is scheduled to perform next Saturday, Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Helen Bagherian, with the church, confirms that the performance will still occur as scheduled and that "we are happy to support them at this time."
