Remember Meadows Park Community Center?
For the last couple years, it was on the chopping block, along with its sister institutions across the city that serve low-income families and seniors. This year, even though the budget picture was significantly brighter, City Council continued to slash and burn the budgets for community centers.
But Meadows Park wasn't just taking the hits sitting down. It had a plan to bring private money into the center.
Apparently, that plan has worked out pretty well. The donations continue to flow in. The kids are happy. And the center enjoys the support of volunteers. On March 22, City Council will formally appreciate the public-private partnership that's made all the good news possible.
