'Taps' for The Constitutionalist Today

Fore-Warkocz: The very face of a serious news organization.
  • Fore-Warkocz: The very face of a serious news organization.

It's been just over a year since we welcomed our favorite truth-seeking-and-truth-finding publication The Constitutionalist Today with these words: "That’s why we thank God and Ronald Reagan (but I repeat myself) for TCT, southern Colorado's newest voice of reason."

And boy, did that paper deliver. Not since the Gazette's Fresh Ink have we enjoyed such a thoughtful and informative voice of the people. This was a paper that was clear: Our president was born in Zimbabwe to a lion with tiger blood and a harem of porn stars, hookers and blow.

But despite our monthly enjoyment, publisher Lana Fore-Warkocz has decided to pull the plug on TCT's existence. A note on her Facebook page delivers the news, and cites a veritable who's-who of freedom rags.

After printing our 12th issue in February 2011 (and in case you didn’t already know) I decided to quit publishing TCT. Paper costs have increased dramatically, clients are hurting in this economy and I need to finally make some money again. Weird, I know ... a steady paycheck ... who’d a thunk?

Liberty Ink Journal (our sister publication to the north) has seen the same circumstances occur with them. I only wish, hope and pray that The Patriot Today (another sister publication to the north) will be blessed beyond words and that the liberty movement continues to have a voice. As a business owner in the publishing industry for more than 12 years and being in the media for many years beyond that, I can honestly say that I will continue fighting for our freedoms and liberties.

Apparently, Fore-Warkocz has sold the paper to longtime local radio ranter Chuck Baker. An e-mail to Baker seeking comment on the paper's future yielded this reply:

Bryce,
The Constitutionalist trasaction was/is a private matter.
Chuck Baker

The demise of TCT has inspired a wealth of comments, including thoughts from new El Paso County Treasurer Bob Balink — who gives a knowing wink to all the hardcore birthers out there — and always-good-for-something-insane-to-say ex-state Sen. Dave Schultheis.

We wish the new owner(s) the very best with this "intellectual" property. To read the entirety of Fore-Warkocz's letter (with no adjustments made for spelling or grammar), read below.

Just another editorial....

I started writing this as I’m sitting in the hospital hanging out with my Dad, laughing, talking, remembering stories from my childhood and looking out the window at the snow falling. What a serene setting, God is amazing.

Writing a little editorial every month has been something I had grown accustomed to having started TCT in August 2009. Yes, TCT was actually being discussed, planned and nurtured even way back then. I remember my friend Vicky and I were meeting with clients, getting printing information and attending every liberty group event we knew about. So, even though TCT had its first issue in Feb 2010, the prep work took months before that. Well, we’ve come a long way…to now.

After printing our 12th issue in February 2011 (and in case you didn’t already know) I decided to quit publishing TCT. Paper costs have increased dramatically, clients are hurting in this economy and I need to finally make some money again. Weird, I know…a steady paycheck…who’d a thunk?

Liberty Ink Journal (our sister publication to the north) has seen the same circumstances occur with them. I only wish, hope and pray that The Patriot Today (another sister publication to the north) will be blessed beyond words and that the liberty movement continues to have a voice. TCT did some amazing things in its short tenure and I am so proud of the accomplishments we all had in doing this publication. I say, ‘All’ because there were some amazing patriots who worked so hard to see TCT succeed and for that I am eternally grateful. My heart ached in these past few weeks when talking to clients, writers and readers asking me to please continue TCT for the folks in Southern Colorado…

Well with that said…I have sold TCT to a longtime friend and mentor, Chuck Baker. If anyone can make this publication work again, it’s him. For those who have lived in Southern Colorado a while, I know you know who Chuck Baker is and if you don’t…well, he was/is the godfather of conservative talk radio. I can remember running around a radio station as a snot-nosed little kid, looking up to this man and he remains true to his word today. Chuck has some amazing partners who will be joining him in this venture, Chuck Graybill and Susie Stepanek. If you are interested in writing or doing something for TCT, please contact Chuck Baker at xxx@xxx.xxx.

I have met some amazing people in 2010, shamefully though…not nearly enough as it should have been. I have witnessed first-hand what power, money and greed will do to some people. Luckily for me, I don’t really know those people, but you can bet that I will continue to pray for them…I have learned some valuable lessons this last year and even after being in business for as long as I have, I still have so much more to learn.

I will be traveling more with my new job, so when I am home, I will want to spend every moment with those I love. Being here in the hospital today and that last week with my Dad has truly made me realize what matters most in life. I guess this is the part of learning, growing and understanding God’s word more in my life. I am thankful for my family, my friends and those who I can count on. You know who you are…so again, from the bottom of my heart…thank you.
