We are in for an exciting floor vote! Maybe even Dog the Bounty Hunter will show up.
This morning, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted 5-2 along party lines to move Colorado Springs Democrat Sen. John Morse's alternative bonding bill to the Senate floor.
This is a considerable win for the legislation, and certainly not the outcome the bail bond industry wanted. The bill was held over from last week's committee meeting, due to Morse's absence, and the bondsmen were cautiously optimistic that this was a sign of the bill's flagging support. Apparently not.
In 2008, a similar bill was withdrawn after its first reading in the Senate. (Dog really did weigh in that time around.) You can read more about the bill here.
