Friggatriskaidekaphobia or Paraskevidekatriaphobia

Why are there two words that mean "fear of Friday the 13th"? Are we really that afraid, that superstitious?

In a word, yes. And maybe we have good reason. Look, a lot of us grew up watching Jason stack bodies high in all those Friday the 13th movies. That's got to be a bad sign, right?

But listen, I have some reassuring news. Snopes has debunked our superstitions. Among the wonderful and comforting facts Snopes brings to light is that, actually, people used to think that Fridays in general were bad luck. Ha!
