We have all felt ripped off when buying a car.

But Fountain police are reporting that two people who responded to a Craigslist ad for a car for sale, actually did get ripped off. They were robbed by a dude with a gun, and exited the situation with no car, and no money.

Ouch.

Fountain police are warning people to be cautious about buying items off the Internet in situations where you have to meet the seller. Don't let strangers lead you into out-of-sight areas.

The police also have a helpful tip about buying cars off Craigslist and other Internet services: Meet the seller at the Department of Motor Vehicles. In order to legally purchase the car, you'll need a temporary registration anyway.
