I hate the circus. Always have. Even as a kid, I never got how anyone could enjoy watching a bunch of miserable, mistreated animals literally jump through hoops or ride around on tricycles wearing stupid little top hats. I'd much much rather watch humans do both of those things. (I hate zoos, too. I had a long, depressing interaction with a llama about 10 years ago that convinced me to never step inside a zoo again.)
A lot of people feel the way I do about all of this animal amusement, and every year when the circus rolls into town — and pretty much any town it rolls in to — there's a protest.
Tonight will be no different.
From 5:45 to 7:15, outside of the World Arena, a group of activists are hoping to deliver "the biggest anti-circus rally in Colorado Springs history!"

Ringling has incurred numerous USDA violations and has a history of using cruel methods, including using bullhooks (sharp devices that resemble fireplace pokers) to force animals to perform while enduring a life of traveling from city to city. People are becoming more aware of circus cruelties every year and now over 25 cities in 12 different states have banned animal circuses from coming to their community.

For protecting parks - and utilities, it might be prudent to closely examine those candidates…
