Former B&E Filling Station has closed

Posted By on Tue, Jul 5, 2011 at 4:00 PM

I just spoke with the folks at Palmer Lake's Bella Panini , who confirm that their neighbor across the street, Folie a Deux, quietly shut down a few weeks ago.

Folie a Deuxs plates had the gourmet look, but as of April, were in need of some tightening and tweaking.

Trevor and Shrese Rudd took over operations in February 2010, when the space was still called the B&E Filling Station. They changed the name and menu this past February.

I was pretty hard on them in my April review, but was hoping to see the Rudds turn things around and make a good go of it. None of us like to small independents close down.

I did respect the Rudd's comment to my review, in which they addressed some of my criticisms and invited feedback from all their customers to help them improve and reach their goal of "exceptional dining experiences."

We wish them the best of luck in their next endeavor.

One quick side note: Balancing out Palmer Lake's food scene with the departure, Amuzé Bistro chef Bill Sherman's The Flying Pig should be opening soon in Amuzé's former space. We'll have an update soon in Side Dish.
