A posting on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's website reveals that the department is looking at lowering the cost of a red card from $90 to $35, based on anticipated costs.

"In summary, the department is assuming a registrant level of 120,000 applications per calendar year," the site says. "The department is also assuming 20 percent of those applicants will claim indigent status (defined as 185 percent of the federal poverty level); thus, the fee will be waived in accord with state statute. Therefore, 96,000 applicants will pay the fee. (120,000 times 20 percent, equals 24,000. 120,000 minus 24,000 equals 96,000). The program is anticipated to cost $3,367,726 per year to run. $3,367,726 divided by 96,000 applicants equals $35.08 per applicant. The fee will be rounded down to $35."

Seldom do we see government in action - to actually LOWER fees.

This is a fine example of how the MMJ Industry and the CDPHE can work together.

Helping patients with lower prices and better meds is our goal too.

AMCS supports the lowering of application fees.

This is very true, proverty is a huge part of our community and will continue to grow. Lowering the fee for the licence will help all those who are struggling to keep their licence and will help other to retain and continue to have a MMJ licence. I think it is great that the state is becoming more involved with the MMJ cordnation. The way econey is so bad that i think this will be a great help to all those who are bearly getting by.
