Sometimes we find out news in unusual ways, as happened today with reports of the University of Colorado releasing its men's basketball schedule for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

That schedule, for the Buffs' first season in the Pacific 12 Conference, includes a surprise during CU's early intersectional games.

Colorado will be making a short bus ride to the Air Force Academy, facing the Falcons on Wednesday night, Nov. 23, at Clune Arena.

The down side of that: It's the night before Thanksgiving, so almost all of the Cadet Wing will be gone for the holiday break. But area basketball fans will be glad to see the old rivals renew their basketball relationship for the first time since CU's 60-50 victory at Air Force on Nov. 29, 2007.

Colorado, by the way, has a 17-3 edge in the series, which dates to 1958, including 6-2 in games at Clune Arena and 10-1 at Boulder.

CU also will play at Colorado State the following Wednesday, Nov. 30. Its first Pac 12 games will be at home Jan. 5 against Washington and Jan. 7 against Washington State, before a trip the next weekend to the Bay Area to face California and Stanford.

Air Force still has not officially released its 2011-12 schedule.
