It’s not every day you bid farewell to Aaron Retka. The local bassist/chef/scenester is about to relocate to California to join his wife, former COPPeR executive director Bettina Swigger, who moved west in order to run San Luis Obispo's Festival Mozaic.

Aaron will be sent off in style tonight at Zodiac with a thunderous parting performance by his band Matterhorn. Joining in the festivities are local favorites El Toro de la Muerte as well as DJ William Brown. The evening gets underway at 8.

Then, assuming you've woken up by Saturday afternoon, catch El Toro again in the last of this year’s free Acacia Park summer concerts. Tango Red Tapestry will open the show at 5:30 p.m., and we have it on good authority that there’ll be no rain — which was not the case for Edith Makes a Paper Chain, who will console fans with an 8 o'clock make-up gig Saturday at Modbo.
