If you struggle to make rent, you probably know just how difficult it is to get rent subsidies from the government through the local housing authority.
Even if you meet all the qualifications, you can wait on a list for years. Or you can wait for years to even get on a list.
Now for some good news: One of those lists is reopening (at least for certain applicants)
*** As of August 17, 2011 the Housing Authority of the City of Colorado Springs will reopen its Conventional Public Housing Waiting List for Elderly (62yrs and older), Handicapped, and Disabled only. Applications will be accepted Wednesdays and Thursday from 8:00am until 3:00pm only, 831 S. Nevada Avenue until further notice.
The waiting list remains CLOSED for the Public Housing non-elderly/non-handicapped and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.
The Housing Authority of the City of Colorado Springs will also accept applications for:
Moderate Rehabilitation Program (Mod Rehab), Rio Grande Village Apartments, Shook's Run Apartments, and referrals from: City and State Tenant Based Rental Assistance, Homeless Veterans Program (VASH), and Plaza on Platte (SRO) ***
