City-owned Memorial Health System later today will announce details of an agreement reached between the Air Force and Memorial to "help its surgeons stay battle-ready," Memorial spokesman Brian Newsome says in an e-mail.
"The AF surgeons will work alongside our trauma surgeons to get the kind of trauma-related
surgical experience needed if deployed," Newsome writes.
Memorial is a good platform for such training, considering the hospital has the busiest emergency room in the state.
Says Newsome: "It is my understanding that this is the first partnership of this kind in the nation."
More information on the partnership will be announced this afternoon. Check back for more details.
