The Indy last spoke with K8E Orr back in 2009, where she described herself as a "lazy kind of artist." It was hard to believe her back then, and really hard to buy it now.
Orr's Facebook page is full of images of her handmade jewelry and artwork. She's also lined up two shows: October's Tricks and Treats at Mountain Mama, and Colorado Wild opening this week at Black Cat Books and Safron of Manitou.
Orr sent some images from the show, all of regional animals complemented by Native American-esque geometric patterns. Typical of Orr, they are clean and colorful, the depth is pleasantly flat and the cartoon-like treatment of the characters sweet and well-managed. These works though, seem to show a more mature technique, with more confident lines and a better handle on proportions.
