U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., has announced he won't attend the State of the Union address on Tuesday, because he "does not support the policies of Barack Obama," his office said in a press release.

When several lawmakers threatened to boycott President Obama's speech last fall on jobs, House Speaker John Boehner rebuked them, saying, “He is the president of the United States, and I believe that all members ought to be here. As an institution, the president’s coming at our invitation. We ought to be respectful, and we ought to welcome him,” according to NationalJournal.com.
It's unclear whether Lamborn will be joined by others in his hidey-hole away from the speech.
Meanwhile, Lamborn on Saturday announced he will seek his fourth term. He faces a primary opponent, Robert Blaha, 57, founder of Human Capital Associates, according to the Denver Post.
Here's Lamborn's speech, in which he proclaims he will stand up for Christian values but apparently not those of any other religion:
It is an honor to serve you as your voice and as your Representative in Washington.
You know that I have been outspoken in my strong conservative beliefs. That’s what got me elected in this conservative district three times. That’s why the National Journal and others have ranked me as the most conservative member of Congress.
I am pleased to announce my candidacy again for election to the United States House of Representatives.
I promise to do what I have done before—to stand up for the conservative, Republican, and Christian values that our country was founded upon, and that made our country great.
I will continue to oppose the ruinous policies of Barack Obama. We must repeal Obamacare, stop these massive deficits, defend the Constitution, protect marriage and the family, and support national defense.
You don’t just have to take my word for it that I will do these things for you. I have hundreds, even thousands of votes where I have done just that—stood up for the values you and I believe in. Numerous conservative organizations you know and respect have endorsed me throughout the years.
Some may believe I am too outspoken and too conservative. Some have even opposed me because I’m not afraid to take a stand. Whether it’s because I’m pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-family, pro-national defense, and for cutting non-essential spending like National Public Radio for instance—not all people agree with these actions of mine.
But I believe you who are gathered here today want a strong conservative Representative, because you have the conservative backbone that makes this party great.
I have three questions for you.
Why would someone want to knock off the most conservative member of Congress?
What is it about my unquestioned strong conservative record that they have a problem with?
Who is gullible enough to put their faith in campaign promises by someone without a voting record, compared to a proven Reagan conservative like me who doesn’t just talk the talk, but walks the walk?
To conclude, I humbly and sincerely ask for your support during this campaign. I ask for your vote at the 5th C.D. assembly on April 13, for your vote at the Republican primary on June 26, and, God willing, for your vote on November 6.
Thank you, and God bless America.
The Gazette reported on Sunday that Lamborn said he didn't understand how he earned a primary in 2012. Suggestion: Start with your highly controversial analogizing of Obama to a tar baby.

Obama is the freely elected President of the United States, whether Lamborn and all the racists in the nation like it or not. That Lamborn wants to play this sort of childish political stunt is a mark of his LOW character, venality and crudeness.
We need far better than Lamborn representing us.
Lamborn is wrong on this. A true patriot shows respect to the office, regardless of the person who holds it.
Doug Lamborn is being ridiculous. He is a pathetic representative and I am embarrased continually by him. But this is a new low for Lamborn. You don't like president Obama so you're not going to listen to him? I think my two-year-old has a higher level of maturity and integrity.
This Congress Person is an ABSOLUTE embarrassment to all the residents of his district.
He has done relatively nothing substantial since elected except embarrass us all. WHY do we keep electing such a BUFFOON????
his use of the christian card gets to be a bit old. separation of god and state, give to cesar, etc. his disrespect is wrong. he needs to be replaced.
This clown represents all that is wrong with Washington...with our Nation! He is a worthless, hypocritical joke of a Cogressman who cares more about his own special interests and bank account than anything or anyone else...Lamborn is an ABSOLUTE embarrassment to all the residents of this district. Vote this Bum out!

He is likely getting tired of hearing Obama blame everyone but himself for all of his failures. That said, he is setting a bad precedent by not listening to a bad president.
laimbrain is earning his nickname.....again. even most people here in teabaggerville are getting tired of this talking point regurgitator. what have you done lamebrain???? or are you just going to run on throwing tantrums because you don't like tar babys.
My dear smartestman,
I see you sniffling all over the place. Are you getting a cold? You need to take better care of yourself.
smartestman, when I wrote that the disrespect Republicans were showing Obama was "unprecedented," you disagreed. Now, just a few days later, you write that Lamborn is "setting a bad precedent." It did not take you long to come around to my way of thinking.
Let us all remember that Doug Lamborn is a politician and that politicians have a tendency to fib even when it is not necessary. Most likely, Lamborn will not just be watching the speech live, but he will also be recording it and playing it back over and over again, searching for sound bites that can easily be distorted when taken out of context, to use as propaganda against the president.
smartestman, you wrote, "getting tired of hearing Obama blame everyone but himself for all of his failures." Now it is your turn to get your meds adjusted. Obama has never blamed anyone for his so-called "failures" for the simple reason that (especially as a politician) he has never acknowledged a personal failure. If you pull your head out of that hole in the ground and take the trouble to look around, you will see that Republicans are not getting tired of taking credit for all of Obama's successes.
It is time for Lamborn to be pushed out. The guy is beyond arrogant, he is willfully ignorant. The people of Colorado Springs deserve much much better. Won't debate, calls the President of the US a "tarbaby", won't show up to represent his district or his state at the State of the Union, won't represent anyone with a different POV. Sorry, that aint good enough. I will vote against Lamborn.

Representative Lamborn was the ONLY Colorado legislator to contact the DHHS Administration for Children and Families to initiate a federal investigation of Policy Studies Inc., El Paso County's ousted child support enforcement contractor. His bold step supported the rights of men in this state and nation to due process and equal protection in child support enforcement matters. His retreat into silence is only one part of the story reflected in the $1 billion federal lawsuit filed against Colorado and El Paso County government officials on Friday, January 13, 2012. What lawsuit? Well, officially, it's 12-CV-00096 but as far as the federal government is concerned you don't have a right to know about the lawsuit against your own state officials.
Chalk another one up for Lamborn! Disrespects his president. Stands alone in fighting for the rights of dead beats.
The mother of Columbine victim Mark Taylor attempted many times to talk to Lamborn. Her concerns were heightened when she discovered that Sheriff Pat Sullivan was arrested and is facing trial for lewd behavior with adolescents. In the El Paso re-investigation files, she discovered a file labeled "Walsh buttrape.txt". This file consists of a drawing that Eric Harris drew while under arrest for breaking into a van on Jan.30-1998. It also has "Sheriff Sullivan as per your request" handwritten. It was faxed to Sheriff Sullivan. It shows that "Sullivan" was lined out and Anderson added as it was then faxed to Sheriff Anderson.
We also have concerns about the Platte Canyon highschool tragedy. They forgot to bring attention to the fact that the SRO was a sexual predator and the gunman was an angry parent. We believe that it needs a re-investigation.
In Donna's attempt to have Lamborn take a responsible look at our information (supported by a forensic psychologist and many others) his office slammed the door in her face. She quoted Sheriff John Stone (google John Stone Tarbaby) who said that Columbine was a tarbaby as the reason he was stepping down.
She can't imagine why Lamborn wouldn't do the right thing and let her meet with him.
She was shocked when she mentioned the scandal at Horace Mann Middle school and to her amazement, Lamborn's aid came in defense of the perpetrator claiming him to be a friend and reminding her that it was only "alleged". She even tried to convince Lamborn to do the right thing by explaining that there are mandatory reporting laws to report alleged rape of children.
His office did go to our website though and because of this, they have the Columbine tarbaby all over them. Donna suggested that they pass the Columbine tarbaby to Obama. If he put it on Obama's plate and he did nothing, I can see why he didn't attend.
To get the Columbine tarbaby all over you (just like Lamborn) google Columbine family request also January Incident

Lamborn is consitently one of the highest rated conservative voters in Congress. You may like him or dislike him based on whether you are a conservative or not, but to judge him for anything other than voting record is stupid.
As far as showing up at the state of the Union goes, normally I would say, yes a Congressman should show the Office due respect. Seeing as how Obama does not show the office respect and uses these State of the Union addresses as Bash Republican and Conservative Judges forums, I would boycott them too, until the President learns to be Presidential.
